Happily ever after | Gina and Kevin | Lisa Nikole Photography

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Gina hired us without meeting us, ever. She saw our website and she loved us, she knew what she wanted. She said that when she called with some questions and I took the time to answer despite being with my family at a campfire, she knew she had the right person. I knew she did too :-)

Gina’s on twitter and during the time she hired us to her wedding day, we would exchange a few tweets! I knew it was important to her to make sure I included her special day on my feed and I did!

There was just this one problem… Kevin and his groomsmen were ugh… can I even say it…. Browns fans! I had to go to the stadium for a shoot, but Gina was not, so for her, I went along and of course we had a fun shoot! There was even a point when the guys were climbing up the gate, we were done when we heard over the intercom “For your own safety we ask that you not climb the gates, and… congratulations!” SO, how cool was that?

It was a beautiful day, awesome people and great families.

I’m always so honored to capture and preserve special moments for people!

Thanks so much!

Notice the thumbs down (you go Gina!!) :-)

Justin and Rebecca | Their Day | Lisa Nikole

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Sometimes brides just find us, and other times they search us out, meet with us and decide what they want to do.

Justin and Rebecca had made up their minds and without even meeting both of us decided we were their team.

Surrounded in love and strong families the marriage of Justin and Rebecca made it’s way to the final minutes before they said I do. Emotion filled the air and things just moved along so smoothly.

Rebecca’s dad spent the night before pulling out pictures he’d carried of his baby girl in his wallet and then later sharing them with Justin and his groomsmen and then with his wife, who looked at a few, but knew it was a bit too much emotion for her to deal with at that very moment.

When Rebecca’s dad first saw her, his reaction was not only captured once or twice but three times as he stepped back to look at his beautiful daughter!

Justin was ready for the day, his brother helped with the final touches and even when pinning (we faked that part) the boutonniere’s on there was just a bit of humor of who would get stabbed.

It was a beautiful and peaceful wedding witnessed by tons of family and friends, and officiated by both Justin and Rebecca’s perspective pastors.

I’m always so blessed to be privileged to be able to capture a wedding and even more so when it’s as amazing as this day was.

Congrat’s to both Justin and Rebecca and their families.

Thank you allowing us, Lisa Nikole to be part of such an amazing day!

Rick Rigsby | COTR | Lisa Nikole

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

When I heard I was going to photography and listen to Rick Rigsby, well, to be honest… who is Rick Rigsby?

I’ll let Rick’s website tell you who he is, and you can check it out more HERE

Here is about Rick:
A master storyteller, Dr. Rigsby weaves a life of triumphs and tragedies with timeless common sense values—to respond to the challenges of our day.

Following a successful career as a television news reporter for a CBS affiliate in Northern California, Rick Rigsby began graduate studies, earning a Master’s degree at California State University, Chico, followed by his Doctorate from the University of Oregon. For the last two decades, Dr. Rigsby has served as a college professor—the last 14 years at Texas A&M University—where he continues to serve as chaplain for the Aggies football team.

Rick is an amazing man, he started out speaking about a testimony he heard about a woman who was healed of cancer and he asked us, but what if she was not healed, what if God decided not to heal her. I did not know what was coming and I’ve experienced the lives of loved ones stolen from me in the name of cancer. Cancer changed my life and I’m not alone.

Rick is a great speaker and he draws you in with his sparkling personality and his way of telling it like it was. Rick drew me in and as I listened I never expected to hear what I would hear.

Rick tells an amazing story of how he met his wife, how she was the only one to give him her “real” number, she danced with him and she married him. Rick seemed surprised she would have married him. They had two children and when she found a lump in her breast, 6 years later the rug was pulled out from Rick and his wife died.

There was a powerful movie of his family and wife. It caught me by surprise and I thought about how he started the day… What if?

What ifs’ happen to us all the time, everyone goes through things, our personal Gethsemane. I’ve been reading a book about being wounded and it says we need to change the way we see the things that wound us. They are not there to destroy us, but to create us. Rick did this and he’s used a situation in his life to reach hundreds and thousands of people with a powerful, positive message.

I was so honored to listen to Rick, so thankful for what I’ve been exposed to.

Impact Magazine | Lisa Nikole | Published :-)

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I think I told you all about a special project I was working on. I could not reveal a lot about it because I was working for a magazine and a bridal shoppe and I had to wait until they were published before I could share with you… but that day has arrived!

I had the distinct honor and privilege to work with 4 awesome models for The Wedding Shoppe of Troy, Missouri. Angie called me late last year to tell me about an awesome opportunity to shoot an amazing venue, models and stunning wedding dresses. I was so thrilled!

Heather, Candi, Jessica and Melissa brought their individual class and style to their sessions. Beautiful models, dresses to die for and an amazing top floor antique venue! What else could we ask for?

I was shooting for The Wedding Shoppe, to be published in Impact Magazine check pages 20-27

The shoot was done in two separate shoots at an exciting venue, upstairs at the All About Home store in Troy Missouri. If you’ve never been there, you have to go, such fun items and gifts and items you are not going to see anywhere else!

My buddy James from JLSstudios in Springfield Missouri came up to help me shoot and my partner Raquel joined us also to make a fab shooting experience.

To be published is an honor and I have to thank Mir and Tamara, editors of the Image Magazine and Focus News for doing such a great job with the magazine and images chosen. To Angie for allowing me such an awesome opportunity. Lori of All About Home for trusting me in her amazing upper rooms (you so have to see this place… AMAZING)

The best way to show you how great these days were is to show you by video… So enjoy and make sure to take a look at the websites. There is some amazing stuff happening in Troy, Missouri and I’m proud to be part of it!

Saint Louis | MarketSTL | Missouri

Twitter is amazing, no really you have to understand the power of Twitter!

A week or so ago, I’m on twitter and a friend pops up to ask me if I’m going to MarketSTL? I checked out the link and it looked like an amazing event and then I saw the pictures. So I twittered back to @marketSTL and offered my services, they accepted!

I was so excited to be attending this awesome marketing event but even better was to be able to photograph it and give Will something amazing to show for next years show!

The event was held at the beautiful Luminere Hotel. What an awesome hotel with some beautiful interior design and okay these way cool plastic rocks that light up! How cool is that?

I was also so glad to see my buddy Small Town Girl who came to the event to live broadcast it. So here she was, broadcasting a Marketing event that specialized in social media and awareness and so much more!

This event was first rate with enough information on so many levels I know it had something for everyone. I’m a novice marketing person, but I took notes and I learned a lot, enough to be adding what I learned into my life and online social networking.

You are going to have to check out ______________ and all the great teaching notes and then next year you make sure to sign up for the event!

Make sure to follow @marketSTL for all the news and updates on social media!

If you are a small business and do not blog, get on it, what are you waiting for, I’m sure you have something to offer that people need to hear! One word WORDPRESS, get there!

Here’s the video I created for MarketSTL

ENJOY!

The Ransom | Church on the Rock | Lisa Nikole

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

First I’d like you to watch this awesome video! What a great job done in house at Church on the Rock

This was played on a few networks and of course placed on youtube. It was a big night as The Revolution (youth group) of Church on the Rock prepared and practiced to present to the public several songs, dramas, dances and a human video!

I was proud to photograph the event, but I was more proud of the youth at our church. They worked hard with awesome results.

At the rehearsal, they were done in record time because they had their act so together there were only minor changes! Things were so well planned and practiced, little needed to be done.

The night of dress rehearsal, they had more time to relax and pray for you, those who attended and those who did not.

I can’t show you everything that happened that night, but I can show you a few images I took and tell you that at the end of the night over 240 people raised their hands and walked up front! THAT was worth every effort, every practice, every rehearsal. It was worth it all!

There was amazing dance, several drama’s directed to issues young people deal with, a human video (a drama skit performed to life music), A special guest from Miami Florida, Christian performer Blessed.

It was straight on, to the heart and done in excellence. I’m so proud of everyone that helped make “The Ransom” an amazing night that touched so many people!

Thank you for giving of yourself and your time!

Opening Dance

Youth Pastor Chris and Isaiah throwing Ransom T’s to the crowd!

Some of the drama’s

Scottie Cambell Music, you have to follow him and listen to his amazing talent!

The stage was full of young people making a decision for Christ!

Moving On | Lisa Nikole | A Year Ago

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Wow, does time fly…

It’s been a little over a year since I moved to Missouri.

I came here crying so much that when my husband and I went to have utilities turned on or open up accounts I could not stop crying and I knew they thought he abducted me or something, no jokes, it was pretty bad!

I determined never to make a friend and felt I was losing every friend I ever had. I left my daughter and her family in Ohio and that, was something that devastated me for a while. But I had to go on and thank God for the internet and webcams… we made it through and in that separation both of us learned more lessons.

A dear friend asked me about my story, moving my business and making a success in just one year. She prompted this blog!

So the story is like this..I lived in Ohio most of my life, my husband got a transfer to Missouri and we decided as a family, this is the road we wanted to travel. My daughter still lived in Ohio so I knew my Ohio based business would be fine.

Starting over was not the adventure I wanted in life, but as I look back now, I am so glad for the move and the new friendships and the amazing people I have been exposed to.

Sometimes living in a small town you forget there is a great big world out here and there is so much to learn, if you just open the door and step outside, sure a move of this size is NOT for everyone, and I thought for sure I was that everyone, but turns out… I had a lot to learn, even in my own attitudes that I thought were so finite, I was exposed to things that made me take a second look at the condition of my heart!

The first thing we did was find a church, we knew that was the most important thing to our survival and it did not take long before a door was opened up and I now attend the most amazing church, filled with the most awesome people in the world! Here’s the link if you want to check them out: COTR

I started to get my paperwork together, it’s important that when you are starting up, or moving on, to make sure you do it right, don’t play around with things that will come back to get you later, so I found out exactly what I needed to do, local, city and state and started all over again.

Starting over gave us the chance to change our name from what it was Creations Photography (talk about a dated name) to Lisa Nikole. We never did like the name Creations but it’s where we started, we’re just happy where we ended!

Social Networking made all the difference in the world. IF, you are a business person and you shun social networking, you’re going to be lost shortly in a world that no longer exist. Some fear the internet, but I say bring it on. As much bad as you can say about it, I can say good with proof!

I started to connect with Saint Louis photographers and even hosted a first photographer get together, which by the way, we will be doing again, this year!

I attended one bridal show and spoke with many other people about business and visited local bridal shops, florists and the Chamber of Commerce.

The doors were opened up and jobs just started to come, at first it was pretty even with Ohio, but this year I can say Missouri has broken wide open for us and I’m loving meeting all the amazing couples that have contacted us to be their wedding photographer.

That’s the short story *smiles*… and here’s the dramatic ending….

As I write this blog, my daughter and her family are traveling across Ohio, Indiana and Illinois to make their home in Missouri.

Don’t worry Ohio, we’ve not forgotten you, we’ve never been one state photographers we shoot all over this amazing world. But for us to be together again means only one thing…

Look out Missouri!!!! :-)

Carol and Charlie | Portrait Session | Troy Missouri

Friday, December 4th, 2009

I know both Charlie and Carol from church. I met Charlie while joining the usher ministry and we started to chat about photography. Now first I have to forgive Charlie for owning a Nikon (I’m joking, it just gets you all so riled up) LOL.

Charlie is an amazing man, with an incredible story to his life. Everyone has a life story and that is what I am all about, peoples, life story.

He’s a soft spoken man who speaks in volumes who has a deep love for his family, his wife and the people who are close to him.

Carol is not much different. She’s a sweet dear person with a tender heart. She has a story of her own to share. Together they make an awesome team.

20091130-ccP-006

When they asked me to shoot their portraits for several adventures and businesses they have going I was thrilled. First of all, they are so cute together and each one of them has a unique and special gift. Together it’s like such a cozy feeling when you are with them.
20091130-ccP-023 copy

See what I mean, and this is not posing folks…they just fold into each other and are always holding hands…AND the way they look at each other…it’s sooo refreshing.

They have no idea I’m writing this, probably have no idea they are going to end up on my blog, but somehow I feel I’ll be forgiven!

I’ve watched them together and when we were together shooting I was watched how they reacted to each other and I can tell you, it’s no joke, these two are still so much in love.

I shoot weddings and I deal with couples that are at the beginning of the journey of life together, the flurry of love and excitement that surrounds a wedding day is something overwhelming, it can knock you over.

I can tell you in Charlie and Carols life, that love and that feeling is still very evident today. It was an honor to capture their moments together and share some one on one time with them. If you are around them for any period of time, you’re going to feel love and a genuine peace.
20091130-ccP-037

Okay and this…THIS is so stinkin’ cute. When I said, Okay, you can kiss, I really did not expect them to kiss. THEY DID! It was the most endearing thing, so of course I have to share it with the world!
20091130-ccP-070

Love you guys! Thank you for sharing your specialness with me!

Dwanna and Suzyn | Sneak Peak | Union Missouri

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Yesterday I got to travel to Union Missouri to photograph two very special and amazing ladies.

Driving down to Union I got to see some amazing landscape and I had to cross this bridge, this span of metal that about took my breath away. I’ve NEVER been on such a long bridge that 1. was being worked on and 2. had to go the speed of a snail to cross it. It was in Washington, Missouri and this bridge crosses the span of the Missouri river, now, you have to understand we’ve had a LOT of rain and the Missouri was flowing like some out of control rapids x 100. I was never so happy to get over that bridge. WOW!

So, on to the shoot. We had a great time and the ladies were amazing and they were so looking forward to this shoot. We started off in a park, went to a field, then downtown and then… we ended on a muddy baseball diamond!

Union, Missouri is a cute town, with a very quaint downtown area that is a bit of a mix between vintage and modern. One thing they are not short on are police officers, I think they knew ever unfamiliar car in Union since both myself and my photo buddy James of JLSstudios were both followed to our destination by one of them. They have a beautiful park area and some really great place to take the family and to shoot pictures. It really is a very nice small town.

Thanks so much you guys (girls) for an awesome shoot and making what we have to do so much easier. It was a blast and really was so awesome getting to know you both and Kenny and Sarah. Tell them we said hello!

So, I promised you a sneak peak and here it is… I’ll be in touch to let you know where the rest will be put in our gallery! ENJOY!
