Justin and Rebecca | Their Day | Lisa Nikole

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Sometimes brides just find us, and other times they search us out, meet with us and decide what they want to do.

Justin and Rebecca had made up their minds and without even meeting both of us decided we were their team.

Surrounded in love and strong families the marriage of Justin and Rebecca made it’s way to the final minutes before they said I do. Emotion filled the air and things just moved along so smoothly.

Rebecca’s dad spent the night before pulling out pictures he’d carried of his baby girl in his wallet and then later sharing them with Justin and his groomsmen and then with his wife, who looked at a few, but knew it was a bit too much emotion for her to deal with at that very moment.

When Rebecca’s dad first saw her, his reaction was not only captured once or twice but three times as he stepped back to look at his beautiful daughter!

Justin was ready for the day, his brother helped with the final touches and even when pinning (we faked that part) the boutonniere’s on there was just a bit of humor of who would get stabbed.

It was a beautiful and peaceful wedding witnessed by tons of family and friends, and officiated by both Justin and Rebecca’s perspective pastors.

I’m always so blessed to be privileged to be able to capture a wedding and even more so when it’s as amazing as this day was.

Congrat’s to both Justin and Rebecca and their families.

Thank you allowing us, Lisa Nikole to be part of such an amazing day!

What do I do with my hands? | Lisa Nikole

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I don’t know if I remember a time when I was on a shoot that I was not asked THAT question: “What do I do with my hands?”

As a photographer, it’s the last thing I’m thinking about. I look at background, foreground, lighting, shadows, positioning oh yes and then, those hands!

Until recently when I was photographed by my buddy James from JLS Studios did I even contemplate “where to do my hands go”?

I was in downtown Saint Louis at the amazing legal Graffiti Wall, getting set for a shot. There I was standing, leaning, moving left, move right, up, down and my hands…are just hanging there, what do I do with them? Ahhh, yes pockets, so I put them in my pockets and of course James tells me to take them out. So there they were hanging there. But, it did not matter, these were head shots and my hands could have been wrapped in a pretzel shape and no one would have seen.

So, to all my clients…I have to say I understand a bit more about the hands syndrome, but I have to tell you. My job is to make you look amazing, fabulous and off the wall hot! So, yes, I’m worried about where those hands are going, but even more so, I’m checking about 10 other things first.

It’s hard to tell what the photographer is going for, I see an image as we go. Every client is different and I never shoot different clients the same way. Everyone is unique and everyone has their own look. Not every one can pout, pull off sexy or just smile relaxed and look into the camera. My job is to get you to the point you are YOU when I photograph you!

This is why engagement sessions are so important with your wedding photographer, it’s a get to know you session for both the bride and groom and the photographer and at the end of that time together you both will have a better understanding of each other and when wedding day comes and I say something like “now melt into each other” you’ll know exactly what I mean!

So, just relax, take a deep breath and smile, look straight into my lens and let me make you the most awesome YOU you’ve ever seen!

Andrew and Sarah | Lisa Nikole

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I met with Sarah, Andrew and Sarah’s mom back in late December. What a beautiful family, even then I knew their connection and love for one another stood strong and firm.

They told me of a relatives wedding where the paid photographer did not show up the day of the wedding. It really made me sad to believe someone from our industry had done such a thing and I told them of how no matter what their day would be covered, that if IF some unforeseen incident occurred I always have photographers who will and can fill in for me.

Andrew and Sarah would be the first wedding of our 2010 wedding season and I could not wait to photograph it.

We met at Sarah’s parents home and the setting was amazing for pictures and even though the rain had prevented us from going into the yard, there was so much beauty surrounding the back porch we took a majority of our family pictures there.

We left Sarah’s and headed for the church to meet the guys, who were more then ready to get these pictures started, walking around the church and up a hill we took advantage of such beautiful scenery to do our guy shots! We even hid Andrew while Sarah arrived at the church.

There is something so magical about a country church and that’s is exactly what we felt at St. Paul’s Catholic church in St. Paul Missouri. The church was full of people who just wanted to support and show their love for Andrew and Sarah.

The sun came out to illuminate the beautiful stained glass windows as two people stood in front of a packed church to vow their love for one another.

We took Andrew and Sarah down to Old Saint Charles where we did some on location shooting and excused the wedding party to have some private time with the bride and groom. I love when a couple melts into each other and creates “moments” for us to photograph.

From there it was one more stop to a family tradition bar top wedding party picture at The Dog Prairie Saloon and then…back to the church for a rockin’ reception.

Every so often you meet a couple that illuminate. Andrew and Sarah light up the room, that inspire everyone around them and that enjoy life!

That’s Andrew and Sarah.

Thank you for allow us to share in your dream and now your vision of love!

Kerry called me and wanted to know if I would shoot the upcoming 80′s bash. Of course I said and as we hung up the phone I thought… Wow.. the 80′s, WHAT was in the 80′s. So I started to look online and soon it came back to me.

Neon stickers with our names on them, stretchy pants, Flashdance, Rubic’s cube, leg warmers and the music… Kiss, MJ, Pat Benatar,Abba and wow so much more.

Then…I went shopping (yes, I like to shop, okay, back on track here) and I looked around and saw, Neon shirts, neon shoes, 80′s band T-shirts and I had to laugh…

History DOES repeat itself!

So Friday I joined an amazing group of people as they celebrated the 80′s. It was a blast! The band was also amazing “That 80′s Band” Seriously a great band.

My photo buddy James from JLSstudios came up to help me shoot this event, and we had a good time. James is an amazing portrait shooter and we did a lot of candids that night as well as dance shots and just “fun” shots.

Thank James for helping me out. I appreciate you driving up here to assist me and we really did Crush it!

I’ll have a video up soon on my FaceBook so catch that and see you next time around the blog!

A question asked that had me thinking all week!

Friday, July 17th, 2009

I opened the door and peeked in, and there it was, a question that really sent me deep into thought and reflection! I went back a few years, then a few more. I thought about every picture I took. I thought about the people, places and things. I thought about my life and how privilaged and blessed I am to travel, do the things I get to do and meet the people I get to meet! I live an abundant life!

I was humbled as I looked back on my life, because parts of my life are not particularly happy ones, but as I looked back, I’m not even sure how I can compare the bad seconds to the hours upon hours of amazing things I’ve been allowed to experience.

So, what question set my soul on fire?

It comes from Jason and he asked me:
“In all your years of shooting…what photo are you most proud …of and why?

Jason, you really got me thinking and to be honest, your question really helped me put into perspective a lot in my life. so, Thank You!

So, what picture am I most proud of? Like a lot in my life I don’t have just a simple answer, If I had to pick one, well, I’d probably have to list more!

As I looked back, I started to think of certain pictures and I realized that those pictures that I thought of first were more because of the amazing people I was honored to meet and photograph! What made the picture an honor was the people, not so much my talent or ability, but the “life story” and people behind the picture.

I thought of all my brides and grooms and they all know they are special to me but, i wanted to dig deeper and this is what I found!

Erika: A beautiful woman who cried at her trash the dress session because her dress had already been worn and her marriage had ended, what was difficult turned into laughter and joy. I’ll be shooting Erika’s wedding in a couple of weeks! It’s been a joy to know her and watch her grow through these years!

Sam: I met Sam at my hotel in Westchester, NY. We just started to talk and when Sam wanted to tell me “his story” I felt such a strong connection to him and the wife he loved so much and lost a few years ago to cervical cancer. Sam caused me to blog and encourage women everywhere to pay the costs and get checked, had his wife done so, it would have been her hand he was holding that day, not mine!

Bert Randolph Sugar: On a train ride home from NYC to my hotel I sat across from a man with amazing stories. I thought no one could have done these things, met these people. For over an hour we talked and shared and laughed. He promised me at the end of the ride he would tell me who he was. Do you believe I had to google it? Stay in touch Bert! I miss our chats!

Eretz Yisrael: Israel, while I have many many pictures of Israel this one stood out, I just snapped it, I thought about this young man serving his country and who he may have been talking to. The smile on his face, the weapon in his hand. Ths photo also haunts me, because I tried to find him, I wanted a release to be able to use this picture. To this day, he remains a mystery!

Rev. Stanley W. Scott: I was asked to follow the end of Rev. Scotts life. This was particularly difficult because, he was a constant help in my life for 23 years. He baptized me, married me and prayed over my life and my families. He was a constant strong point in my life. I was honored to cover his life and his death. I chose this picture of him, because it’s how I remember him most! I hope to share more images of him with you in a month or so.

Ami Jerimiah Cohen: I covered the birth of Ami and when his birth became an urgent factor, I did the only thing I knew to do, I grabbed my camera and I stayed composed, and in a matter of seconds I heard his cries from the operating room! Ami is my grandson! He’s beyond amazing and special. A part of my heart beats in his!

I’ve lived a wonderful life and it’s far from over! It’s been amazing and i can only look forward to the next person I meet and get to here “your life story” I’ve been privilaged to travel to different nations and states, to cover life from the beginning to the end!

Thank you everyone for allowing me the opportunity to share your Life Story, photographing you and allowing me to be special enough to be entrusted with it. Thank you! I am deeply humbled by this chance to look back!

Tony and Annie – Commitment

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

We met after a bridal show in St. Peters, Missouri and I knew Tony and Annie had a story, everyone does, but not everyone has a story of lifelong commitment and dedication with both families requiring them both to make the right calls and decisions on their lives. That was 8 years ago.

Today I was able to spend a day with their family and friends and watch two beautiful people take vows openly that they carried in their hearts from years ago.

Looking onward were their two sons Jackson and Tyler, Tony made sure to take them fishing this morning and spend special time with them before he added “husband” to his new role in life.

Tony is a man of character and honor. I was impressed as his mother took time at the reception to tell me a little bit more of his “life story”

Annie is dedicated and even talked of not minding if the kids came with them to Jamaica (no, the kids are not going, but she still would not mind!). They were announced at the reception as a family, danced as a couple then, as a family.

When I think of the character of people like this, it just makes me smile to know good people do exist.

They got married on the hottest day of the year, (so far) (108 heat index) and everyone, even their amazing bridal party sucked it up and did whatever Annie and Tony wanted for pictures to remember their special day.

The reception was at an amazing venue called “The Christy

The night was still going strong with lots of dancing, celebrating and love!

Thank you all so much for allowing us into your lives and allowing us to capture the emotion as your two families were joined together!

Tony and Annie

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

This past weekend I had the opportunity to photograph Tony and Annie’s E-Session.

We had a beautiful day and they picked an amazing location: New Town! I told them I’d have a hard time NOT talking about their shoot location so I’ll just say now, this place is amazing! It’s almost a gated community with just about everything they would need within it’s framework! It’s a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy, and we did!

We’ll be shooting Tony and Annie’s wedding in June, we can’t wait to capture the emotion of their day!

I think we covered almost every area of New Town, and walking and talking with Tony and Annie I could tell they have a very solid relationship. Both are very committed individuals who have come together to become an amazing couple!

No matter what was asked of them, they did it, easily. Tony even scouted and found us an amazing wall that they were photographed by.

There’s a special bond between couples and this is so evident with Tony and Annie, they were so complete together it was such an honor to experience and to capture.

January 10th and 11th you could have easily found Creations Photography at the 2009 Niles Expo Bridal Show.

So far this winter whenever the weatherman told us to look out we were in some awful weather pattern, we would worry, fret, stock up, and wait, and wait and wait….It was coming, we knew it was…we went to sleep and when we woke up….NOTHING! So why was January 10th any different?

Oh but January 10th was the first day of our bridal show, surely we would not get 12 inches of snow, we’ve been here before…so we went to sleep. Woke up and an amazing amount of snow had fallen…and was still falling.

I had perfect hair. I was so excited! How often do you get perfect hair on an important day? Then I went out to shovel the sidewalk. that snow was SO heavy, so WET…you all know what that means, Ponytail time! UGH!

So we pack up the SUV, we get to the bridal show and we wait, and an amazing amount of brides came out. We were thrilled to see you all!

Sunday was even better and more brides came out. The show was amazing and as always we had a blast. We get to talk with other vendors, share ideas and thoughts and mostly, we get to meet you! The people that will change our lives in 2009.

The Bridal Show was a great success. We’ve pulled our winners for the free wedding day and free engagement shoots and we are just waiting to hear back from everyone!

Despite the Heavy, Wet, Abundant snow, the Niles, Ohio Bridal Show Rocked!

Check your emails Brides…we’ve got some surprises for you, and we can’t wait to talk with you and Make your memories last forever!

In Ohio, In Missouri, Ohio, Missouri….where am I?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

It’s been a crazy couple of days…I was in Ohio on Sunday, but on Monday we headed to Missouri, I’m there right now, but tomorrow I’ll be in Ohio again! Ahhh ain’t moving grand?

I got a bit overwhelmed today by the amount of work it takes to move. I’m amazed at people who have moved more then once…this is just unreal…I stood in my kitchen and just looked around at all the boxes, and all the missing cabinets (not in stock) and thought, WHAT am I going to do… and I broke…my poor husband, who has worked so hard on this house, carpet, ceramic floors, hardwood floors, new paint…

We bought this house as a fixer-uper because we wanted to make it “our” home, we’ve knocked out walls, tore out walls, tore out windows, bathrooms, fireplaces and an entire kitchen, we’ve torn off all the old siding and replaced it, we’ve got a ways to go…but it’s time to move.

I will share space with the dining room for a bit until my office is complete..we need spring to come early this year!

Missouri is amazing, today it was around 65, sunny and all I wore was a sweatshirt to keep me warm. I’m hoping it warms up fast, I’ve heard it does. I’ve got a toddler shoot in January in Troy Missouri, and I’m looking forward to the weddings that will be coming up soon, in Ohio and Missouri!

I’ll keep everyone posted on my move… I’ll have some amazing before/after shots soon. My husband is amazing at what he can do…just wait till you see…..

tomorrow…Ohio :-)

Happy New Year everyone, if you get a chance, leave a comment about your New Years Resolutions, Creations Photography has a $10.00 ITunes card to the one we choose at random!

I’ll post them up tomorrow night!
