Happy Mothers Day | Lisa Nikole Photography | Just Lisa

Friday, May 10th, 2013

First to all the mothers out there.. Happy Mothers Day and enjoy your day and even if your child is too young or too forgetful, go do something for you, big or small, make being a mother a big deal to you today.
Lately I’ve been thinking about my mom. My mom passed away last June and we never had that connection most parents do. I adore my kids and love them so much, my mother.. never loved me that much.

But again, my mother was from a generation that shielded their emotions and love. They were a protected female generation and I have to add, I was not the easiest child to raise.

I was also adopted and I feel for some people that parental connection just does not happen, however, to this day I stand a strong supporter for adoption, and USA adoptions are a must for our nation, we have to make it easier and much more affordable to do so.

I transgress….
So this year at Mothers Day, I’ve been thinking. My mother is buried in a grave in Chamption Ohio, actually a very beautiful spot.. right here…

I want to send flowers to her grave, because I want to, not because I have to, or I feel pressured to, but because I want to.

I have two voicemails on my phone from her, the last two speaking messages left to me by her…. And when I listen to them I cry, they touch my soul, because I know, at some point in her life she realized….

Life is to short. We buy, posses, bring, carry, want, have, glout, show off and have such a pride about things we own, and then at the end… we lay in a bed, while family members go through our stuff, they sell it at garage sales and we give it away.

Life is way too short to blow it on material things.

My grandson crys for his lost great grandparents… I hope I make enough impression on my children that they remember me, not for what I own or what I have, but for what we did as a family.. for the memories and for the life we had.

Happy 2012!
This is the time of year we all think on things we want to change, to do, to gain, to loose. Besides Christmas when everyone is thinking of doing for others, New Years is a time to reflect!

So, my resolutions?

1. To use all the samples I have hoarded and kept from hotel stays in the past
2. Cleaning up and out my house
3. To do something nice for someone else once a month (I stole this one from my daughter)
4. To speak the truth, even if my voice shakes
5. Love more, love harder and to give of myself more
6. Learn to say NO!
7. To publish the books written and write the two or so I need to write.
8. To be a better person, both in business and personal life

What are your resolutions?

I entered 2012 single and you know, life is an adventure that I am welcoming with open arms, Bring it 2012! I’m ready for you! (kung fu fighting stance)
I had one person help me through 2011 (besides my children) he was an angel who helped me when others turned their backs!

I found two old dear friends in 2011, I’ve thought of them FOREVER and so glad we have connected.

I’ve seen a bunch of people fail me in 2011 and I’m sure more in 2012. More then I can count on my hands and feet! It’s sad to think the shallowness of folks can really rock your world, but I put on my big girl pants, donned my shield and blocked their fiery darts. I’m a better person then that! I will learn from their mistakes and not do the same things! I’m SO MUCH BETTER OFF! You have no idea.

I got outside the small square box and hamster wheel. I found a freedom that can only be reached by going through some things.

I’ve been through a few things, folks! Some of you have no clue, some of you know. Most of you don’t care ?

I’ve seen my mother die before my eyes, yet still live. I’ve watched her life erase within her. Trying to connect with her now is something you have to laugh at or you’ll cry yourself to sleep! Stay healthy, dying happens but to watch it happen sucks (Ami does not allow me to say that word) even more!
I don’t hate 2011, I treasure it. 2011 made me a strong person. Thank you!
The people that are connected to me Jan 1st, 2012 will forever be in my life, they are true friends and family and I appreciate them all!

Oh okay and I will try to read more. UGH! Maybe, but not putting it in the list, so you can’t hold it against me if I fail!

So, heres to 2012
