Scared | Moving Forward | Lisa Nikole Premiere Portrait Photographers Saint Louis

How many times has it happened to you, you know the feeling… Just not ready to move forward, but tired of being behind.

I know the feeling well.

When I first got into business I had very little support and most of my support came from a group of photographers on a forum called POTN. This “small” group of people helped shape and mold me, listened to me whine and guided me alone my way. I’m still a member and even though I don’t visit as often, I’m still every bit a part of the community that helped mold me.

Once I was there.. It was easy..

I remember a few years ago, wrenching the Film Camera from my hands and going digital. I remember feeling like this: Well, I can always go back, buy some extra film, keep the film camera with me and it will be okay. I never picked that film camera back up for professional work.

I never looked back.. It was easy….

Two days ago I bought a piece of equipment I’d been dreading to buy, it’s not a big deal, in fact it’s really simple, but I have dragged my feet for a few years, made meg shift things to work and I finally broke down.. and I bought it (NO, I’m not telling), I got it out of the box today, set it up and thought. WOW, that’s

EASY!

So, what’s holding you back? What are thinking about and what is holding you back?

STOP it… and do it.

I think our minds make it harder, worse, scary. but in reality.. moving forward is …

EASY!

I am a proud fan and owner of a Show IT site. I watch as many of the live broadcasts as I can. Last week David Jay was talking about the new Facebook changes and how he does not understand people who post comments like” “I want the old Facebook back” WHY? I agree, why do you want to go backwards?

Let go of the familiar and embrace the future. Go for your dreams. You only live once, your life is uncertain as is those around you. What do you want to do? Dream Big and Do Bigger! Don’t stop till you get there and don’t look back!

It’s really not so scary once you’re there… It’s EASY!

A bag, a blog and a friend..

Today I was checking out my friends blogs, I do that, you know, I check them out. I support them and I post comments!

Amanda is my friend and when I read her blog today, I almost posted a blog about it but thought to wait just a bit and I’m glad I did.

Amanda is Living Proof Photography and her blog started with this really cute picture, actually I thought it was a strange picture till I read her blog, Amanda was submitting this picture to win a Shootsac through an amazing company called MCP Actions

I knew as soon as I saw the picture Amanda was a winner.

Later that day MCP Actions posted the top 10 or so that she chose to send over to Jessica at Shootsac. Amanda was in the top 10!!!

So tonight Jessica Claire picked a winner and it was my buddy Amanda!

Amanda and I hung out for a few days in New York last year for the David Jay Freedom Seminar. She actually drove all over NY and even into Brooklyn! We had a good time and I’m so happy for her.

So here’s to you Amanda!

CONGRATULATIONS, GIRL!!!! Woot Woot !!

Today while doing my normal blog surfing, I found an interesting article by Marty Thornley on PIF.

Marty shared a site called Hubspot and it’s a website grader. BUT..not just a grader, it also helps you adjust your website in a number of ways.

I did my website and I ended up with a lower score then I would like, BUT..I also added a few fellow photographers sites to compare to mine and I came out pretty equal to theirs, well…I can’t compare to David Jay, but Jasmine Star and I are pretty close to all the number, THAT made me happy because I think Jasmine is pretty awesome!

So, what do you need to do? Go here: www.website.grader.com, throw in your website address, fill in a few blanks and in a matter of seconds your going to have a 7 page report about YOUR website.

I’ve already listened to some of the advice I’ve received from the website grader and next week, I’ll run it again and see if I’ve raised my grade.

So, after you run your site, share with us what numbers you get.

I’ll share mine, I got a 22, not horrible, but not where I want to be!
