I love synchronized anything (another diamond for me). Swimming, Cheerleading, dancing, events, military and more. I love to watch large groups react as one!
Motorcycle clubs fit in this category. I love motorcycles. I’ve owned a couple and spent many a weekend at the tracks with my father and his friends as they competed and raced! Because of that time I’ve learned to respect and honor motorcycle clubs and the people that belong to them.
When I see a Motorcycle club riding down the rode I am always intrigued by them, who they are and what they are doing!
I first heard about them in a meeting when a person talked about “being at the right place at the right time”.
The next time I saw them following a young mans body home from Afghanistan.
I was on my way to Ohio for a wedding when I noticed the American Flag hanging from a bridge on an overpass. I saw people standing along side the road and police and fire trucks scattered along the way.
I wondered who could be coming to town, someone very important. I saw homeowners and business men holding flags and waiting.
As I drove the 15 miles of route 79, the anticipation kept growing. Wow, who could be this important, what was going on, i was tempted to stop and wait, but I just kept driving. When I reached the highway I saw police and fireman standing at attention over the interstate. Then coming onto the highway were two black limo’s several police officers on motorcycles and several police escorts. For a moment I thought this must be a politician, but then I saw them… 10-15-25-50, maybe 75 motorcycle members and I knew who they were. I did not know their name but because a person shared just the night before, I knew what they were doing.
When I got home, my newspaper was waiting and right on the front page was the reason they were here. Lance Cpl. Patrick Schimmel served our country and gave the ultimate sacrifice of his life for our freedom. He was 21 and from Winfield Missouri.
All those people were standing to honor him. Those bikers were there to protect and honor and serve him and his family. I wondered more about those bikers and I did a little research on them.
The Patriot Guard Riders!
The Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement says it all. They are all about respect. They don’t care what you believe, or your political views. They care about showing sincere respect for our fallen heroes. They shield the mourning family and friends from any protestors. This is done in a legal, non violent manner.
I’ve seen them, standing with their backs to the crowds. A force to be reckoned with. They are a shield to the mourning!
More and more I’m hearing about the Patriot Guard. I’m not sure if it’s because more of our soldiers are dying or more people are protesting at the funerals. But I am glad in both cases they are there.
I agree with the Patriot Guard and I stand behind our soldiers! No matter what my view is of our government or my religious beliefs I know if a young man or young woman decides to join the military they take the call to protect this nation and follow any orders given to them, then they deserve my utmost respect and honor!
It was a choice to go into any branch of the military… after that it is a service to respect the government they work for and follow all orders given to them, not by choice, not by vote and not by decision. They are told to go, and they go! They are not asked for an opinion. They are told what to do and they do it.
I get upset when I hear about organizations that feel the need to attack a family at the death of soldier. He was serving, it’s what he/she does. It’s what they were trained to do. That solider served so they could have the right to stand and protest and have the freedom to carry signs and not be shot or imprisoned for doing so, as many other nations do.
I’m thankful for each and every soldier and I’m thankful for the Patriot Guard Riders for taking such a strong stand in a difficult time.
I know I often say a blog is not worth it’s words unless a picture is posted, but I have no picture to qualify for a blog such as this…
All I have are my prayers and my thanks to all the current military and former vets.
Thank you! I appreciate what you do!
