For Photographers

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Today while doing my normal blog surfing, I found an interesting article by Marty Thornley on PIF.

Marty shared a site called Hubspot and it’s a website grader. BUT..not just a grader, it also helps you adjust your website in a number of ways.

I did my website and I ended up with a lower score then I would like, BUT..I also added a few fellow photographers sites to compare to mine and I came out pretty equal to theirs, well…I can’t compare to David Jay, but Jasmine Star and I are pretty close to all the number, THAT made me happy because I think Jasmine is pretty awesome!

So, what do you need to do? Go here: www.website.grader.com, throw in your website address, fill in a few blanks and in a matter of seconds your going to have a 7 page report about YOUR website.

I’ve already listened to some of the advice I’ve received from the website grader and next week, I’ll run it again and see if I’ve raised my grade.

So, after you run your site, share with us what numbers you get.

I’ll share mine, I got a 22, not horrible, but not where I want to be!

News…

It’s all about the coffee table book, the oohhs and aahhs as people look at your book of memories from your wedding day. The smiles and laughs it brings as you look back and remember the day you said “I do”

After your wedding is over, your photographs are one of a very few things that you will have to remember your very special day.

Because that is what we do, we capture the emotion of your special day and we leave “no stone unturned” we cover it all, because we know, after the cake is eaten, after the bouquet is thrown and once he carries you out that door, the memories we’ve captured, are your lasting memories of a elegant, beautiful day.

That’s why we choose Memador albums, with a unique system of lamination that protects photos from damages of time, moisture, fingerprints, color fading and even natural aging.

Memador is an outstanding choice!

Recently at a bridal show our booth was flocked by other photographers wanting to see the Memador Album and ask questions about it.

We’re very proud to offer and stand behind Memador Albums.

It’s a stunning piece of art that features your wedding day!

Memador is a top notch company, I’ve been blown away by their quality and their customer service.

We’ve chosen Memador because it’s great for you!

MOE!

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Earlier this week, Jim and I were traveling down a back road to our new home when we spotted him! We knew what it was, our brains saw the white head and we KNEW….but out of our mouths came every bird, besides what it was.

Jim is pointing and yelling Hawk…errr..Hawk…ooooooo WOW….I’m seeing an Eagle but I’m thinking Vulture, we laughed so hard at each other, stopped and just watched him. He was eating a deer that had been dead for about a month in a plowed field. He was amazing, and fat!

MOE is an Eagle! I gave him the name because he’s in Missouri (MO.) and he’s an Eagle (E)!

Jim loves Eagles and we had to return home for me to grab my gear and shoot what I could.

I wanted to get out of the car and see how close I could have gone, Jim was worried I’d disturb him feeding and told me he’d have to put a leash on me. So I stayed in the car, but, told him…next time, I’m out of the car. I can’t wait.

I looked for Moe today, but did not see him. I’ve been told he’ll be back, so, I’ll keep looking.

Until then, an eagle shooting is a rare thing, and this close is even rarer. I’m thrilled and blessed to have been able to shoot such an amazing bird!

I love hawks, but there is something majestic about an eagle!

Did you make it out?

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

January 10th and 11th you could have easily found Creations Photography at the 2009 Niles Expo Bridal Show.

So far this winter whenever the weatherman told us to look out we were in some awful weather pattern, we would worry, fret, stock up, and wait, and wait and wait….It was coming, we knew it was…we went to sleep and when we woke up….NOTHING! So why was January 10th any different?

Oh but January 10th was the first day of our bridal show, surely we would not get 12 inches of snow, we’ve been here before…so we went to sleep. Woke up and an amazing amount of snow had fallen…and was still falling.

I had perfect hair. I was so excited! How often do you get perfect hair on an important day? Then I went out to shovel the sidewalk. that snow was SO heavy, so WET…you all know what that means, Ponytail time! UGH!

So we pack up the SUV, we get to the bridal show and we wait, and an amazing amount of brides came out. We were thrilled to see you all!

Sunday was even better and more brides came out. The show was amazing and as always we had a blast. We get to talk with other vendors, share ideas and thoughts and mostly, we get to meet you! The people that will change our lives in 2009.

The Bridal Show was a great success. We’ve pulled our winners for the free wedding day and free engagement shoots and we are just waiting to hear back from everyone!

Despite the Heavy, Wet, Abundant snow, the Niles, Ohio Bridal Show Rocked!

Check your emails Brides…we’ve got some surprises for you, and we can’t wait to talk with you and Make your memories last forever!

The Gym!

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Last year I made a commitment to myself to join a gym, and workout. Now, I’ve been working out in my home for about a year prior to this with Gilad and weights.

Nothing beats a gym! My membership expired at about the same time my move did, so I had to say good-bye to a year long of friendships that have been built.

I’m really going to miss the Gym People!

I’ll be building my own gym in my basement and I really am looking forward to that.

Right now I miss the gym, I can feel it, so I do what I can here now. I NEED TO WALK, RUN….anything!

So…I’ll miss you guys, and I hope we stay in touch on facebook and emails.

Global Fitness is such a cool place and the owner and company are awesome people, so are my gym rat buddies.

Missing YA!
so I made this video of the shots I took on my last day!

Hows everyone New Years going? Day 3! Re-solutions holding strong?

Three Hundred and Sixty Five Days!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

That’s all the time we have, 365 days to make our impact in 2009. We are standing on the very tip and looking 2009 in the face. I’m ready for all 2009 holds! It’s going to be a great year! I can’t wait and I am SO looking forward to what is in store.

Last night Jim and I were driving to our Ohio home from our Missouri home and the roads were somewhat empty and we were very thankful for that, because we had a goal, to be with family for the “ball drop” of 2009, we walked in the door around 11:30 pm.

We watched Dick Clark and Ryan Secrest wish us all a Happy New Year and we all said Happy New Year to each other. I watched a bit of the show and then decided to go to bed!

I laid in bed and just wanted to pray and ask G-d to direct my next 365 days, that the talent as a photographer he has given me would be used to it’s fullest. That my role as a wife and mother would be magnified in my life. I prayed for health and safety of my immediate family. I then asked G-d to walk with me in each and every day of the next 365 days, that no matter what 2009 held I knew I’d not be walking it alone…..and then, I went to sleep!

My Re-Solutions for 2009:
To be an example
To use the talents G-d has given me to the fullest extent
To be a better mother (yes I’ll cook more)
To be the best wife I can be
To use wisdom
Speak less, Listen more
and a few others…..

Happy New Year Everyone…. Can’t wait to see what it’s got for you and me!
