New Model | Candace G | Lisa Nikole

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

I don’t normally start out with an image, but candace was different, she deserves a different blog posting.

Candace, is different, I’d have to say she’s an “old soul” I am not in favor of that term, but it does fit her.

On our way down to the city, Candace shared with me some really amazing things she keeps on her Iphone… how about a picture of Marilyn Monroe without makeup? Audrey Hepburn and her favorite movie…”Meet Me In Saint Louis”! I’ve promised Candace I’d follow her to Austin, Texas and we would do an Audrey Hepburn shoot together and when we do, I’ll be sure to post it. Till then… here is some of the fun Candace and I had in downtown STL.

Candace was waiting for this blog to see my favorite pics of her… so hopefully she’s happy in knowing them now :-)

The Miller Family | Wow 8 Siblings | Lisa Nikole

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

I met Heather at the Bridal Magazine shoot I did earlier this year. She so rocked it and just in case you missed Heather, this is one of my favorite shots of her.

Okay so that was two, but whose counting?

Heather is a hair stylist and I went in to go tanning she talked to me about shooting her siblings for their parents anniversary. WOW, of course I would…how many brothers and sisters do you have? Heather replied “eight”! EIGHT! Wow, who does that anymore? I was all in for the family of eight and we set the date to shoot.. The Miller Family!

I arrived at our destination and all I can say is what a great family! WOW what an awesome group! Six boys and two girls and the youngest are twins age 13.

I think Heathers mom is a saint, no really I do! I am very sure their Father is up for some kind of medal also. Whatever they did, they did an awesome job raising eight children.

We went to Cuivre River State Park and had a great shoot, there is so much to do there. We headed to the bluff and Heather pulls out the place cards and we go to work.

The brothers were itching to do something silly

Posing eight people is always interesting.

We went to another location and headed toward the bridge, if you notice the clouds in the background, it wasn’t but a few moments and we got rained on and we all ran for the cars. The rain ended our shoot, but we had a tremendous time and I loved getting to know the Miller Family.

and of course… the jump shot! Sweetness!

What do I do with my hands? | Lisa Nikole

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I don’t know if I remember a time when I was on a shoot that I was not asked THAT question: “What do I do with my hands?”

As a photographer, it’s the last thing I’m thinking about. I look at background, foreground, lighting, shadows, positioning oh yes and then, those hands!

Until recently when I was photographed by my buddy James from JLS Studios did I even contemplate “where to do my hands go”?

I was in downtown Saint Louis at the amazing legal Graffiti Wall, getting set for a shot. There I was standing, leaning, moving left, move right, up, down and my hands…are just hanging there, what do I do with them? Ahhh, yes pockets, so I put them in my pockets and of course James tells me to take them out. So there they were hanging there. But, it did not matter, these were head shots and my hands could have been wrapped in a pretzel shape and no one would have seen.

So, to all my clients…I have to say I understand a bit more about the hands syndrome, but I have to tell you. My job is to make you look amazing, fabulous and off the wall hot! So, yes, I’m worried about where those hands are going, but even more so, I’m checking about 10 other things first.

It’s hard to tell what the photographer is going for, I see an image as we go. Every client is different and I never shoot different clients the same way. Everyone is unique and everyone has their own look. Not every one can pout, pull off sexy or just smile relaxed and look into the camera. My job is to get you to the point you are YOU when I photograph you!

This is why engagement sessions are so important with your wedding photographer, it’s a get to know you session for both the bride and groom and the photographer and at the end of that time together you both will have a better understanding of each other and when wedding day comes and I say something like “now melt into each other” you’ll know exactly what I mean!

So, just relax, take a deep breath and smile, look straight into my lens and let me make you the most awesome YOU you’ve ever seen!

Jackie Joyner Kersee | Church on the Rock | Lisa Nikole

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

I’m privileged to go to one of the best churches around and because it’s pastored by two of the most awesome people around Pastor Blunt and his wife Pastor Kim.

Because of these two people I’ve been exposed to some of the best teachings and greatest people around, I’ve been privileged to photography those events.

A Wed. night a few weeks ago, I got to listen to and photograph Jackie Joyner Kersee, and I’ll be honest, when I heard she was coming I wondered what she could come to share.

I knew she was an amazing athlete and I was very sure she had profound things happen in her life to share. There was a moment in her sharing that I got lost in her words thinking about a woman from East Saint Louis making it to the level of stardom that she did. You know the saying “nothing good comes out of…. (you can insert your own town there if you like). But Jackie gave encouragement and hope and strong conviction of perseverance and life. It was an honor to hear her and to photograph her.

Jackie is considered to be one of the greatest female athletes in history, she won a silver medal in 1984 and gold medals in 1988 and 1992. She is also the heptathlon world record-holder!

Jackie retired from track and field in 2001 and started the Jackie Joyner – Kersee Youth Center Foundation to encourage kids in her underprivileged hometown to play sports.

There was an open question forum where some very interesting questions were asked, ones that came with thought, I enjoyed so much listening to everyone share and especially listening to such an amazing woman!

Photo shoot | The ladies of midwest movement | Phoenix Arizona

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Okay okay, you all know I had a good time in Arizona right?

Are you kidding me? I had a wonderful time and I made amazing new friendships and increased ones I already had.

During that time I spent a lot of time with the girls of COTR Mid-West Movement. We were all in the same car for hours and it was really a lot of fun. They were all great blessings to me and I enjoyed listening and talking to them all.

Once we left White River and got to the hotel in Phoenix, I wanted to do a photo shoot of them, so we did a fast shoot one morning and I thought I would share some of the images with you.

Baby Ren and Family | Troy Missouri

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

I got a call last week to do a baby/family shoot.  I was thrilled to be asked to shoot another baby and when I arrived and met the entire family I knew it would be an awesome shoot.

Some say children are hard to shoot, but I think that is when you try to fold them into your  mold, children need to be children and they have to trust you.  You have to earn that trust first, but listening to them and then talking to them, not at them.

I was met at the door by a new mom, and her older children.  It was nice to see them and of course the questions and comments started.  The middle son kept asking if I was going to give him lots of shots, we later found out, he meant photographs as his mother and I kept wondering why he thought I was going to give him a shot!  Sometimes it’s the adults that think too much :-)

Baby Ren was amazing at 4 weeks old.  His little body compared to that of the rest of his family and yet he had no problem fitting into the shots we had for him.

It was really a fun shoot and the family was awesome.

Thank you for allowing me into your home to shoot and creating some awesome memories for you to treasure!

Baby Isabella | Awwwww | St. Charles, Mo.

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

I had the sweetest opportunity to be asked to photography baby Isabella.

When I first got asked to photographer her it was by her grandmother, Connie. Connie was so excited to have pictures done, as I think any grandmother would be.

When I arrived Isabella was fast asleep, no, really she was out! We used that time to get some close up shots of her and then to some really cute shots of her still sleeping.

Both of her parents told me she does not sleep a lot when she is awake it’s crying all the way.

We must have picked the perfect day, Isabella stayed a sleep for some amazing shots and we moved her several times, and then, near the end, she woke up and even allowed us some more fun shots.

And this shot… this shot is dedicated to all the grandma’s out there who do everything they can to make their grand-baby smile. Isabella’s other grandma was standing off to the side doing everything to make her smile, and of course, she did, as best as she could for being 6 weeks old, but her face is really smiling, look at those eyes!

What a blessing a beautiful child is to a family. It was such an honor to photography Isabella.

Carol and Charlie | Portrait Session | Troy Missouri

Friday, December 4th, 2009

I know both Charlie and Carol from church. I met Charlie while joining the usher ministry and we started to chat about photography. Now first I have to forgive Charlie for owning a Nikon (I’m joking, it just gets you all so riled up) LOL.

Charlie is an amazing man, with an incredible story to his life. Everyone has a life story and that is what I am all about, peoples, life story.

He’s a soft spoken man who speaks in volumes who has a deep love for his family, his wife and the people who are close to him.

Carol is not much different. She’s a sweet dear person with a tender heart. She has a story of her own to share. Together they make an awesome team.

When they asked me to shoot their portraits for several adventures and businesses they have going I was thrilled. First of all, they are so cute together and each one of them has a unique and special gift. Together it’s like such a cozy feeling when you are with them.

See what I mean, and this is not posing folks…they just fold into each other and are always holding hands…AND the way they look at each other…it’s sooo refreshing.

They have no idea I’m writing this, probably have no idea they are going to end up on my blog, but somehow I feel I’ll be forgiven!

I’ve watched them together and when we were together shooting I was watched how they reacted to each other and I can tell you, it’s no joke, these two are still so much in love.

I shoot weddings and I deal with couples that are at the beginning of the journey of life together, the flurry of love and excitement that surrounds a wedding day is something overwhelming, it can knock you over.

I can tell you in Charlie and Carols life, that love and that feeling is still very evident today. It was an honor to capture their moments together and share some one on one time with them. If you are around them for any period of time, you’re going to feel love and a genuine peace.

Okay and this…THIS is so stinkin’ cute. When I said, Okay, you can kiss, I really did not expect them to kiss. THEY DID! It was the most endearing thing, so of course I have to share it with the world!

Love you guys! Thank you for sharing your specialness with me!

Dwanna and Suzyn | Sneak Peak | Union Missouri

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Yesterday I got to travel to Union Missouri to photograph two very special and amazing ladies.

Driving down to Union I got to see some amazing landscape and I had to cross this bridge, this span of metal that about took my breath away. I’ve NEVER been on such a long bridge that 1. was being worked on and 2. had to go the speed of a snail to cross it. It was in Washington, Missouri and this bridge crosses the span of the Missouri river, now, you have to understand we’ve had a LOT of rain and the Missouri was flowing like some out of control rapids x 100. I was never so happy to get over that bridge. WOW!

So, on to the shoot. We had a great time and the ladies were amazing and they were so looking forward to this shoot. We started off in a park, went to a field, then downtown and then… we ended on a muddy baseball diamond!

Union, Missouri is a cute town, with a very quaint downtown area that is a bit of a mix between vintage and modern. One thing they are not short on are police officers, I think they knew ever unfamiliar car in Union since both myself and my photo buddy James of JLSstudios were both followed to our destination by one of them. They have a beautiful park area and some really great place to take the family and to shoot pictures. It really is a very nice small town.

Thanks so much you guys (girls) for an awesome shoot and making what we have to do so much easier. It was a blast and really was so awesome getting to know you both and Kenny and Sarah. Tell them we said hello!

So, I promised you a sneak peak and here it is… I’ll be in touch to let you know where the rest will be put in our gallery! ENJOY!
